Here are the steps you need to follow to set up a static IP address on your Windows laptop:
1. Open the Control Panel: Click the Start button, then select Control Panel.
2. Click on Network and Internet: In the Control Panel, click on the Network and Internet category.
3. Click on Network and Sharing Center: In the Network and Internet category, click on Network and Sharing Center.
4. Click on Change adapter settings: In the Network and Sharing Center, you'll see a link on the left-hand side that says Change adapter settings. Click on it.
5. Right-click on the network connection you want to configure: You'll see a list of all of your network connections. Right-click on the one you want to configure and then click on Properties.
6. Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4): In the Properties window, scroll down until you see Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) and click on it. Then click on the Properties button.
7. Enter your static IP address: In the new window that opens, click on the option that says Use the following IP address. You can then enter your static IP address, Subnet mask, and Default gateway. These details should be provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP).
8. Enter your DNS server: In the same window, click on the option that says Use the following DNS server addresses. You can then enter your Preferred DNS server and Alternate DNS server. These details should also be provided by your ISP.
9. Click OK: Once you've entered all of your details, click OK. Then click OK again in the previous window.
10. Restart your computer: To make sure all of your changes take effect, restart your computer.
Remember, using a static IP address can lead to network issues if used incorrectly. It's usually better to let your router assign an IP address automatically using DHCP.
