Definition of “Content Addressable Memory (CAM)” :

Content Addressable Memory (CAM) is a special type of computer memory used in high-speed searching applications. It compares input search data against a table of stored data, and returns the address of matching data. Unlike regular RAM, where you provide an address and get data, in CAM, you provide the data and get the address.
