What kind of latency can I expect with fixed wireless broadband?

I presume its nowhere near asa good as Fibre.

Marc Ferguson

Latency, often referred to as ping, is basically the time it takes for a data packet to travel between two points. When it comes to fixed wireless broadband, this latency can be affected by a number of factors like how far the transmission tower is from your home, the quality of the equipment you're using, and even the local weather.

In the UK, fixed wireless broadband services generally experience latency times anywhere from 10 to 50 milliseconds (ms). However, this isn't set in stone and can fluctuate based on the factors mentioned earlier. For everyday tasks like browsing the web or streaming your favourite shows, this level of latency typically ensures a smooth experience. If you’re into online gaming or other activities that require quick responses, aiming for a latency below 30ms is often considered ideal.

It's also important to highlight that while fixed wireless broadband usually has lower latency compared to traditional satellite internet, it still doesn't quite match the ultra-low latencies offered by fibre optic broadband.
