Leading rural broadband provider Gigaclear announces that Andy Matthews will be appointed as Chairman from 1st January 2025.

Andy is Chief Investment Officer at Infracapital and has been on the Gigaclear Board since 2019, where he has overseen the company’s strong growth Gigaclear has recently announced that its network now covers more than 580,000 properties with over 130,000 connected customers.

Andy will succeed Stephen Nelson who is retiring from Infracapital and is therefore stepping down from Gigaclear after six years in the Chairman role and almost a decade on Gigaclear’s board. Infracapital continues to support the company as the majority shareholder of Gigaclear.

Andy Matthews said: “I look forward to continue working with the Board to build on the superb progress Gigaclear has made to date. Stephen has been an influential asset to the business and we wish him well with his future endeavours.”

Reflecting on his time leading the Board, during which the business has seen unprecedented growth, Stephen Nelson said: “It has been an enormous privilege to serve Gigaclear as Chairman since May 2018.

“Over that time, I have seen the business progress from strength to strength and the team should take full credit for helping build what is now the leading rural broadband altnet in the UK.”

Nathan Rundle, CEO of Gigaclear, said: “Andy’s experience has had a positive influence on the Board for many years and I look forward to continuing to work with him on the next exciting chapter. I would like to thank Stephen for his highly valued leadership during his tenure. Gigaclear has achieved significant growth in recent years, propelling the company ever further forward in its mission to become the UK’s leading rural altnet provider of ultrafast broadband. I am personally grateful for Stephen’s direction and support which has played such a pivotal role in the success of the business.”
